yes, I too have a son who is now five. We discovered his problems at about age three. We had all the pediatrician tests, and the school district even tested him (for free) for speech therapy and occupational therapy, which he has been getting since then. He was also diagnosed at the low end spectrum of autism w/ possible aspbergers and ADD. I have worked with him on all levels of learning. He knows his alphabet, colors, shapes, etc... all the easy stuff. He can spell his name (first and last).

He still has a hard time writing though, he cannot hold his writing instrument properly, which frustrates him, and then he gives up.

He used to get very frustrated that he couldn't communicate well, or that others didn't understand him... now, he does fine, it just took time and lots of energy.

Sometimes it's been overwhelming, and I did ask "why me", but I wouldn't trade him for the world!

Good luck!!!
