SUBJECT: SEPARATE MY KIDS???
HELP!!! My x-husband is planning on moving to another state.

My x and I have been divorced now for 3 1/2 years and are currently sharing all responsibilities for both kids, age 4 and 7, 50/50. I just received the following email from my X-husband:

"Here's my basic proposal.
I move to IL with son(4). You stay here with daughter(7). We both retain our
legal custody and modify the parenting plan to reflect our new living
arrangements.
We alternate summers, Christmas, and spring break with the kids together as
much as practical for these three extended breaks.
Christmas/Spring Break - Whoever has the kids for Christmas then the other
one gets them for Spring break. Alternating years.
Summer - This will be the most difficult to manage because of daycare
issues. I'm open to your ideas, my best idea is that we have them spend
June and July together with you or I alternating each year, and August back
at their respective homes.
Trips etc. I'm flexible on the idea of weekend trips interspersed to visit etc."

My problem with addressing this is I honestly don’t know what is best for the kids. We’ve had problems with my son, who has been seeing a therapist for the last year and a half due to major violent outbreaks. He has been having problems with authoritative figures as well as not being able to handle changes. I don’t know how to determine if a stable home would be better for him… and how would this effect my daughter? Does the disadvantage of being split up as siblings surpass the ability to give them the actual place to call “home”? or vice-versa? I want to do what’s best, but I don’t know what the outcome would be for the kids. They can’t speak for themselves, and I don’t want to even give them the choice, I believe that would be worse. Any help on where to go to get the answers, I would really appreciate it!!!
