Glad I could help! I worry too sometimes about my son Ryan's behavior and I too read way too many articles on Autism/PDD. It seems like I spend hours each day on the internet researching and I actually just became a member of this site this past Thursday and it really makes me feel better to read all the messages posted by parents who have some concerns. Let's me know I'm not alone.
Ryan is VERY loving and shows lots of emotion as well, that's why my gut is telling me that he's just a "late bloomer". He also had his hearing tested at age 2 and it was fine(knew that it was) but wanted to be sure. My son's frustration over things has decreased alot because of his expanding vocabulary. He did recieve private speech therapy at age 2+1/2 for about 4 months along with being in EIP from age 2+1/2 til 3.(EIP stops when your child turns 3). Speech therapy helped him tremendously but we had to stop private speech therapy because it's sooo expensive. He still did receive it through EIP along with O.T. though so it wasn't a big deal stopping the private sp. ther. Thank God that a friend of my sister's told me about EIP(her son has PDD)because my son's Pediatrician never told me about it. I don't know what state you live in so I can't give you a No. to call.(Ask your son's Doc) Their services are free. They come to your home and evaluate your son and from what you've written I'm sure your son will be eligible. He would receive Sp. therapy and probably O.T. as well because of his having very little speech. Please look into it as soon as you can because services end when he'll turn 3. I wish I had looked into it sooner but I didn't know about it but fortunately Ryan is progressing well. Please let me know how your son's appt. went. or reply even sooner if you just want to talk some more.
It IS nice knowing that there's someone who can relate! Our sons are sooo alike!
