SUBJECT: STREP/POSSIBLE MONO??????????
My 8 year old son was diagnosed with Strep he was on the antibiotics (amoxicillian) for 10 days and actually felt better for a few days coming off of the antibiotic. Now he saounds exactly like he did in the beginning again~swollen throat, fever, aches, swollen glands. I took him in again and the DR. said if it wasnt gone in a week to 10 days they would test for Mono. My question is can it just be a plain old sore throat that coexisted with the strep?? Is that possible?? Or are our chances pretty good that in a week we will be looking at treating Mono? Is it safe to wait for another week? The Dr.has recently started his practice. Thanks!
