 | My long time live-in boyfriend openly discusses his finances in front of his 9 year old son. The boy knows how much the car payment is, how much the country club membership costs, how much the house is worth, how much we're looking to spend on an investment home and what the rental income might be, etc... And I think it is extremely inappropriate to discuss these things in front of a 9 year old child. I told my boyfriend that there's a difference between teaching a child the value of money, and over-exposing him to information he doesn't need at age 9.
I believe he should allow his son to be a boy.
He should concern himself with little boy things...not how much the property taxes are... He has plenty of years ahead of him to be worried about finances. Since I'm not the boy's mother, I am not in a position to insist upon anything, but I want to know if I'm wrong.
