| Hi, it's good to hear that your son has polite manners and respect for others. I think that's terrific. I also would like to point out that I had the politest manners when I was a kid, and though it seemed that I respected others, I didn't even know the meaning of respect. Because I was abused, verbally and physically, and that's how I learned to be polite. So, yes, it is important to teach children appropriate behavior, and it is difficult; however, the ways in which we do this teaching are extremely important. We must be sure that our children feel loved and respected at all times, or they will not learn to love and respect others. Even worse, they will not learn to love and respect themselves. I hope that in addition to knowing polite manners and respect for others that your son knows how to love and respect himself, because that is what is most important for future generations.
