My dermatologist says diet doesn't really play a part in acne, but I know chocolate makes me break out. Drinking water helps, but washing the face with a gentle cleanser twice a day helps, too. (I know guys, especially teenage boys, sometimes wash their face only once a day, in the shower.) Something that's been great for my acne is a product from Paula's Choice called Blemish Fighting Solution. It's a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide product. (There's also a 5% solution if a stronger product's needed and your nephew's skin can tolerate it.) You can find it, and more information, at http://www.cosmeticscop.com/shop/category2.asp?CAT=51&TYPE=2&PAGETYPE=S

Applying a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) product to the face before the benzoyl peroxide enhances the penetration into the pores, helping to kill more acne bacteria. Again, Paula's Choice offers 1% and 2% topical BHA solutions: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/shop/category2.asp?CAT=48&TYPE=2&PAGETYPE=S

I don't mean to be a plug for Paula's Choice, but I really like her products. No dyes or perfumes, reasonably priced, no irritating ingredients such as menthol, eucalyptus, or lavender, and they work. A salesperson at Nordstrom the other day actually said to me, "You have great skin. What do you use?" And I've been battling acne all my life (I'm 40)!

Best with your nephew.

Kristin
