Our son will be a year old in just a few days!! He seems to finally have outgrown the reflux, but it did unfortunately take a LONG time. We used Carnation Good Start since he was about 5 1/2 mo. and it seemed to be better than some of the others but he still spit up a lot. We put him on Zantac, around 3 or 4 mo i think, (though hesitantly), and he was on that until 7 mo or so and that did help, but I cant say that it stopped the spitting up completely. We found keeping him upright for 20-30 min after feedings, and keeping them smaller and more frequent helped. He only drank 3 bottles a day since about 6 or 7 mo. and then only 6 oz each bottle, but he was more than satisfied with that amount. Everyone said "oh he is not getting enough" but our dr said as long as he seems satisfied, dont force him to drink more. He started an 8 oz at morning feeding around 9 mo but still to this day only has 6 oz at the other two meals. At about 3mo we started to add rice cereal to thicken bottle and it helped to keep formula down a bit better. I dont recommend it in every bottle though, you'll end up with a PLUMP little one!! Our Dr recommended not to start solid foods until after he was even 6 mo but i started anyway right at 6 mo. He did pretty well with them, but still spit them up too and that sure did get messy. I kept cloth diapers handy EVERYWHERE!

Don't give up hope--there will be a day when your baby will finally stop spitting up, but I cant lie and say it has been easy. I have been told as well that they really just have to outgrow it and you learn little techniques and other tips to deal with it and eventually as they start getting more mobile and are more upright more frequently, it starts to diminish. You may want to check with your dr or local hospital to see if they have any support groups or hotlines for babies with reflux--many areas seem to have these type of services. Good luck and please feel free to email me at blondieincharge@aol.com if you need any other advice.
