SUBJECT: Does Alimentum cause less diarrhea than Nutramigen?
My baby is 3 1/2 months old and has been very fussy. I suspect her problems are not formula related, or not entirely, but wanted to give the Nutramigen a good try to rule this out once and for all. She's had messy stools with milk-based formulas, and her system seems to shut down on soy (she goes days without a bowel-movement, gets fussier and eats less, then after I've induced a movement, it's actually soft.) My other kids did well on Isomil, but it just doesn't seem to work for her.

On the Nutramigen, she's eaten alot less, and her stools have been explosive, like colored water. She has several a day, and developed a bad diaper rash. The nurse at my pediatrician's office said to take her off of it, that it might be too rich for her system. I thought this formula was supposed to be well tolerated by all babies?

She seemed to get a little better with her fussiness on the Nutramigen, but I was afraid of her not eating enough, and becoming dehydrated with the diarrhea.

I've put her on Good Start, which she eats great, but she's still fussy.

Has anyone experienced a baby not tolerating a hypo-allergenic formula, or these problems? Does Alimentum cause less diarrhea in some babies?
