I am also 28 and this month is my fourth attempt too. I too have experienced the hopefullness and disappointments. Each month I get those phantom symtoms and convince myself I am pregnant. This month is no different. My period is due on 1/17 and I really feel like this could be the month. I tried the ovulation kit as well and personally, I didn't find it useful. It is all in how you read those two lines. Are they really EXACTLY alike? Will they be more alike tommorrow or is this it? But that was just my experience, maybe others will find it helpful.
