SUBJECT: Breastfeeding after mastitis
I was advised to give my 6 weeks old baby formula twice a day after he lost some weight. Two days later I had mastitis and my breastmilk decreased. I had to bottlefeed my baby full time. Since then (just a few days later)he refused to be breastfed preferring the bottles. I tried to pump but could only get a max to 4oz to 80z a day. He's 2 1/2 mths old now and takes 6oz of formula 6-7 times a day. At times he'll suck and empty the breasts in just 1-2 minutes and cries for more. What can i do? I'd really like to continue breastfeeding but I'm just not having enough milk. Any advice?
