 | TJPirr, I am going through the same thing the rest of you are and I am just getting started with the diagnosing and so on. I have a son to be 6 year old, but about 9 months ago I had him tested for ADD-HD at the request of his pediatrician.(she was the one that asked me if I had noticed anything) I had, but didn't think "my kid" could have such a thing, but now 9 months later and it has only gotten worse. He was tested and didn't even test in the grey zone, so she wanted to re-test him in 6-12 mos. Well here we are 9 months later and getting ready to go through the testing again. I am also one of those skeptics about the whole ADD-HD thing. My son was born with a mouth full of mucous and didn't breathe for about 1 1/2 minutes after birth and I had been told by the neo-neurologist that the effects from this may be seen later in life as he grows, probably 4+ years. Well that is for sure, and are we seeing it! His father and I are divorced, but maintain very consistant households and support one another with discipline and behavior modification tactics, but he is in denial everytime I try and talk to him about the fact that there is something (medically, socially, psychologically. . . .) that is wrong and we need to get to the bottom of it. If any of you have had any types of good advice, please pass it on. I am so confused on where to take this, but I know for sure that I am tired of spanking, time-outs, taking away's and cancelling fun for the whole family because of his behavior. Help!!!! Signed, frustrated mom! |
