6y/o scared to be by himself in a different room

My first grader is scared to by himself anywhere in the house. If I am upstairs he is there unless he is with his 4 yearld brother. He is even scared to go upstairs in his room to get a toy by himself. He will have his 4 year old brother go with him. He is starting to make his brother scared too.I get so frustrated and start calling him a baby. I know this is not right but he is not growing out of this. He has been like this for 3-4 years. He mentions being afraid of the doors. Please help!!! I am about to get counseling for him.
