SUBJECT: Playing with fire
Hello,
I have a 14 year old son. Last year he had lit a piece of paper on fire in his room and put it into his metal garbage can. He got scared, cried and swore he would never do that again.

Today, my son had his friend over. They were upstairs in his room watching a movie. When I went in to check on them they had the windows open and the room stunk of Lysol. He must have sprayed half the can. I asked several times what was going on and my sons reply was he farted bad and wanted to get rid of the smell. After they left, I went to his room and checked. In the same metal garbage can was ashes from paper. The can smelt like fire.

This might sound stupid, but I don't know what to do as far as a punishment goes. I know that when I was a child my father probably would have broken my fingers and removed the door from my room. But than again I never in my life played with fire. Please I would appreciate any advice on this.
Thank you,
Debby
