SUBJECT: ADHDw/Bipolar II
My 6 year old was diagnosed 16 months ago with ADHD. The doctor slowly increased his medication over those months. 3 months ago, we charted his behavior for a month to determine the mood swings that he was encountering and was then diagnosed with bi-polar II. He is now taking Adderal XR 30 mg/day and 7.5 mg of Zyprexa every night. He has seemed to stabilize some what. He still seems to have a problem with aggresiveness towards females. His 2 sisters and I. Never towards a male though. Could this be due to his enviroment and his ideas of what a man is suppose to be like because of what he has been around or the medication or is more disipline needed? I am a very patient mother and can handle a lot of what he does. I try to work with him instead of hitting. If he does wrong, he is timed out or loses a favorite toy. Am I doing something wrong or just not stern enough? Does anyone else have this problem of aggresiveness in their child? Please, any answers would be appreciated.
