| Hi. I first experienced a bad flare up when my 2nd child was 4 months old and was diagnosed with UC. I successfully breastfed my son until he was 13-1/2 months old! So take heart! It may be rough at times, especially if you have to temporarily stop nursing, as I did several times. I'd have to go on high doses of prednisone for a week or two and I'd have to pump and discard my milk around the clock while feeding my son formula. I had three short interruptions during his 13 months of nursing. Now I find myself pregnant again. While not technically in remission, I've been doing really well lately. However, I just took a pregnancy test this morning -- so I'm just barely pregnant and I seem to be having a flare the last few days. Also, I've never been pregnant with UC. I'm only taking asacol -- 3 per day, 3 times per day. It's a lot. I wonder if that much asacol is okay for the baby. I'm pretty scared. Good luck to you. |
