My mom is the herb lady in the family...
She swears by Rosemarie oil. Lice hate it.
I have never had to get rid of lice yet, but I keep putting rosemarie in my shampoo bottles
(you can just put a whole piece in the bottle or boil 3 bunches in water until it is concentrated and add it to the bottle). My girls have never had lice yet, and hopefully won't...
I think Brewers yeast helps too. You eat it and supposedly when you sweat they don't like the smell... I know it sounds kooky, but you sounded desperate...
