I have heard of an alternative method involving olive oil and garlic. I bought a small bottle of extra virgin olive oil and put some pieces of garlic in. I let it sit in the 'fridge overnight. The next day, I warmed it up a bit and put a few drops in my daughter's ears when she was sleeping. However, her infections still come around, so we've opted for the tubes. I found a wonderful doctor who's done the surgery literally thousands of times. He said that with children who suffer from recurrent ear infections, the adenoids cn be partially to blame, as they can be so big that they block air from entering the ear, and do not allow the fluids to leak out. So, he's also going to shave off some of the adenoids. I've spoken with a number of women whose children have tubes, and the majority of them are so grateful! They say they only wish they'd done it sooner!
Good luck!
Melissa
