SUBJECT: angry pre-teen
I have been having problems with my 10 yr. old son dealing with anger. He has gone from being a happy kid who does well in school to a "cool guy" who seems to hate everyone in his family in the span of a few months. His grades have suffered this marking period and he has been to the principal's office quite frequently (nothing really bad, just being a wise guy.)When he is punished for bad behavior or poor grades he seems to get even angrier, although after he calms down he seems to understand the punishment. Is punishing him the way to go? Is this just a phase kids go through at the beginning of puberty? At what age does puberty usually start?
