Hi Amy,
I have a 29 month old son. He is my first child. When he was 16 months old, I started to change him to a toddler bed. I would sit next to the bed and tell him a story. I would sit there until he was almost asleep. Then I moved to a chair/rocker and did the same thing. He still wakes up about once or twice a night for a drink, but goes back to sleep.
But since she is still so small, if you have her in a crib, you might try the same thing.
I still have some trouble at times with him sleeping, but it is not as bad as it was. With her waking up screaming, she could be having a nightmare, which is very common. I know it can be frustrating, but hang in there. I remember waiting up 4-6 times a night and getting him something to drink. It was very frustrating, because I was only getting 4-5 hours of sleep.
I hope this helps.
Take care!!
Christy
