5 yr old...wetting and tv?

i have a 5 yr old son who still wets the bed. he doesnt do it all of the time, but rather he seems to go in spurts. 7 days dry...4 days wet...and this has been going on for a good 2 years now. i do not believe there is anyhting emotional in his life that causes this. last year for christmas, santa brought him a tv for his room. BIGGEST mistake ever...you live you learn right? he wont sleep without it now. it is making me crazy. could the tv have anything to do with his bedwetting? and...any suggestions on how to remove the tv from his room??? obviously i can just take it out but he has a fit and cries and says he will be too scared to sleep without it...anyway, back to the wet bed. anyone tried the alarms that are available in drugstores or on the net?
please help!!! i do not punish him or scold him at all. he helps in bed changing and changes his own clothes. it upsets him a lot that he is a bedwetter. i am at a loss.
