When my daughters were babies we read to them each day at least one time. The first books that we read were interactive with the babies. Holes that they could put their fingers in and things that they could stroke while you are reading the page etc. At night when we put them in their beds we would read stories that were more strickly for reading as it was more the tone of our voices, soothing and gentle to help lull them to sleep but it set up the routine of reading and of their curiosity and love of books that they have maintained though they are now grown and have children of their own and are doing the same with them. :)
