AUTHOR: boysmom
Our son also has AS and had problems being toilet trained. we were stressing out about it and that affected him. We finally just backed off, established a routine of bathroom trips to get him used to "the bathroom" itself, and for his birthday let him choose what underwear he wanted and then when he was ready, he told us that he didn't want pull-ups any more we let him use the underwear. We also bought a plastic matris cover so that if he did have an accident at night it was easy to deal with.

Just keep in mind....that if we are stressed out about something they will be too. Just let him set the pace and NO ONE else.

Also, if you have not talked to the elementary school yet, do so now. Do not wait until he is having problems with the communication skills with the faculty. We had trouble with our son's teachers and principal just because they did not have any documentation of his problem.

Anyway, I hope this helps.
