We have a 2 1/2 year old son. This is what I foundthat has helped him take his afternoon nap because if he doesn't get one he is a monster for the rest of the day, and sometimes he'll decide to fall asleep after five for two hours then wants to stay up half the night. I always keep his mornings extrememly busy the busier they are the more apt he is to take his nap. At noon I feed him lunch and let him pick out a movie. I call it our "quiet time" and most of the time I will lay down with him. About ninty percent of the time he'll fall asleep during the movie. If he is really fighting quiet time then I put him in a diaper with his pj's on and put him to bed, I tell him that it is naptime. He gets mad and screams but if he comes out of his room I put him right back in. Most times he'll cry himself to sleep in about ten minutes or so. I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
