I tried putting th white valve back in today. She couldn't get any water out. It's too hard. I took the vavle out and she took about an oz. I have to be careful though because a little water will come out on it's own. Without a valve, I think it' more like something in between a cup and sippy cup. I can tell it's going to be a slow process.

It sounds like your son is doing great with the vavle so I wouldn't change it. Every baby is different.
