| My son is 5 months and we have been battling this problem since he was born. I've followed everything the Dr.'s have suggested and have not had much results (sitting up for 20 min, burping more often, frequent feedings etc.) at 6 weeks I agreed to have an upper GI done on him which said he did not have refulx. However, I have since found out that upper GI (barium studies) do not always recognize Reflux. My dr.s keep saying he will outgrow this, so for me it is now just a laundry problem i'll have to get used to. I was able to tolerate the endless crying, the damage to our carpet and the endless laundry. However what I cannot tolerate is not he vomits food into his mouth and reswallows it. What I have found to work is to continue to keep him upright for 20 mins. after eating, switching to similac lactose free, mylicon drops (the real ones $11 for a small bottle) to releave some discomfort, using advent or ventaire bottles and I becan feeding him solids (rice) at 2 months. The Playtex nursers seemed to keep too much air and caused more spit up. It has been recommended to me not to put rice it a bottle. I also try not to wait to feed him until he cries, he captures more air that way. Also, my son cannot tolerate anymore than 6 oz. even though he's still hungry after the bottle, but I can distract him. He's going to the dr. in one week and I have begun charting when he eats, then what time he spits up or vomits and at what time he begins to cry for no apparent reason. I hope some of my suggestion help you! Email me if you have any better.
