I can imagine your fear when you found out you had a blockage! I am nearing the end of week 2 with the stent, and things are going pretty well. The irritation is still there, mostly when I stand up and walk around. I don't think that will go away. However, I found that if you drink a whole lot of water (at least a gallon a day) it does help. The pain mostly occurs when there is not much in my bladder when I go to the bathroom. Maybe try not going as often and allow the urine to build-up a little (you're probably thinking yeah right!), but I always feel better when I go in larger volumes. I too have blood on and off. Sometimes more than others, but it is normal. The reason my doctor doesn't want to leave the stent in too long is that it can calcify if you are forming kidney stones. Maybe since they are not sure what is the causing your blockage they are not too fearful of that. I hear differing opinions on the length of time it can stay in. I am blessed that I am not on bedrest. I think I am better off at work because I tend to sit more there whereas at home I feel like there is so much I need to do! I feel for you with having 3 kids. I have my stepsons on the weekend, but my husband is really good about helping me with things. I hope you have a good support group near you that can give you a hand when you need it. Try to look on the positive side, only a few more weeks to go and you will have another precious gift to hold in your arms, and you doctors can probably do more then to find out what is going on.
