| Since you have had some experience with reflux, this is what is happening with my son - any suggestions?
I nursed him until he was 3 months old (I had one breast infection and took Amoxicylin) and I had to stop nursing him because he wasn't gaining weight. He wasn't gaining weight because he would scream after 10 mintues of nursing and wouldn't nurse. He would arch his back, etc. Noone could tell me what the problem was, not even the lactation consultants. I pumped for another month to give him bottles and when he was 4 months, I started to give him Enfamil/Lipil. He has always and still does cry/scream when I burp him. He spits up a lot (sometimes hours after being fed), sleeps 11-12 hours at night, but will only sleep 40 min. during the day. After 5 months of 40 min. naps (he wakes up screaming and won't stop, even when I hold him) I gave him Mylicon drops and it worked wonders!! I give it to him before he naps, and sometimes after 40 min., he wakes up crying and I give it to him again and he goes right back to sleep.
I wanted to change formulas, but my doctor says just keep giving him Mylicon and he will out grow it, but I don't think that can be good for him every day. Should I change formulas - would Good Start work or keep using the Mylicon? Does this sound like a lactose problem?
Any help would be appreciated. |
