SUBJECT: 10 week old son's sudden drop in appetite
My son is now 10 weeks old and has gone through his second drop in appetite. He did this a few weeks ago and is doing it again. The last time this happened, we streched the amount of time between feedings from 2-2 1/2 hours to 3 hours and increased the formula from 3 1/2-4 oz. to 4 1/2-5 oz. He weighs 13lbs. 7oz. and is 24 1/2 inches long. He was eating anywhere from 4 1/2-5oz. every three hours, but now he is eating 2-3oz. every three hours. I just don't know what to do. Is he ready to go 4 hours in between meals? He still wants his bottle every three hours but just doesn't want to eat much. Could it be his formula isn't satisfying him? He's on Isomil and was doing fine with it until recently. This is my first child and I am just beside myself with worry over this feeding issue. My mother-in-law and husband say it's just a phase. Could that be the answer? Someone please help me understand. Has anyone else experienced this with their child and if so, what was the solution?
