I was reading through the messages to see if someone had recently gone through a bout with kidney stones while pregnant, and I found yours! I am 32 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with a stone this week. I was just released from the hospital yesterday after having a stent placed. I noticed that you said you were pretty uncomfortable with the stent. I haven't felt tremendous discomfort with the stent (compared to the pain from the stone), but I do feel like I have to use the bathroom more often. My urologist used a cystoscope when placing the stent, and then confirmed placement with ultrasound rather than x-rays. I wonder if your doctor can do the same? My doctor also told me they don't like to leave stents in longer than 6 weeks because stones can form on the stent as well. I wonder if that could be causing pain too. I only have one large (6-7mm) stone right now that is just outside the kidney. I am just banking on making it through the next 5-6 weeks until I can deliver.
I could not imagine having to take care of 2 young children, be pregnant, and deal with kidney stones at the same time. I hope you have a good support group to help you through this. I have two step-children, but they are only with us on weekends, and they wear me out just during that time! I will say a prayer for you, and I hope that your discomfort subsides to a level that at least lets you function. Take care of yourself =)
