| I did question my doctor, and if I had not, my son would have died a few days after his birth. I also homeschool.(That is another story.) I do not have multiple degrees in anything, but I am very well read with an IQ of 160. I believe that teaching is a proud profession and we need great teachers who know how to teach children in group situations. Not all parents can teach their own children. Much of your education has prepared you for handling group dynamics. You must juggle doing what is best for your class as a whole, while trying to cater to the needs of individual children. That is a difficult task, and one I do not envy. I however, am not an expert on children as a whole, but I am an expert on my children. If teachers, doctors, and other experts would respect the knowledge that a well informed, intelligent parent has to offer, maybe you would find that respect returned. You know more about children in general than me, I do not dispute that. I know more about my children than you know and I wish you would not dispute that. I realize that there are idiotic parents out there, and in your line of work they must be very tiresome, but do not judge all parents based off of the lowest common denominator if you do not want us to judge teachers by the few inept ones that we encounter. |
