 | Our son is now 8 mo. old. We started him on the Zantac around the time I first posted a message and he was on it until begin. of Aug, about 6 1/2 mo. then. Although I don't think it made a huge improvement, we did notice that he seemed more content after eating and didn't arch his back as much and wiggle like he was in pain. I breastfed him as long as I could, until he was almost 5 months old, and then we tried different formulas. He is on Carnation Good Start now, and it seems to work ok. Didn't notice much diff. in spitting up between the formulas we tried. He still will only take 6 oz at a time, and will still spit up, but not after every feeding and not very much when he does now. Started on solids just before he was 6 mo. That seemed to help too. His dr. recommended waiting even longer, but I disagree. She had me add rice cereal to his bottles again at his 6 mo visit since she didn't feel he was gaining enough weight.(At 5 1/2 mo. he was 14lbs, 13oz and had only gained about 1 lb since his 4 mo visit). But at a 7 mo height/weight check he was doing great-18 lbs, 7 oz. I think he needed to have the solids sooner and thus why he didn't seem to gain between those 2 appts. I do have to say the rice cereal helps to thicken the formula and spitting up is less. As in the other post someone left, keeping him upright was a key to helping him as well and sleeping in a semi inclined position. He slept right on a pillow with us, whole body except for buns and legs were on the pillow and he would sleep 10-12 hrs that way. In his crib, he was waking up every couple hours. Of course the dr frowned on the sleeping in the bed with us, but he was more comfortable and we got to sleep too. Started him in his crib again around the time we took him off the meds, and had a few rough nights, but overall transtion wasn't too bad. In the early days, it was not easy getting thru it all, with all the crying and sleepless days and nights, but he eventually improved and now we are dealing with cutting first teeth!! One other thing, my mom found that hold him in a cradling position across your body with him on his side, and him facing you, kinda like you are wrapping him around you, HA, and rocking/twisting side to side while standing, helped put him to sleep during some of the crying spells. Hope this helps!! GOOD LUCK! IT DOES GET BETTER!!
