Sorry, but you CAN get pregnant while on your period. Sperm can live 3-5 days inside and woman and if you ovulate early in your cycle then yes there is a chance of pregnancy. For instance, if you ovulate on day 9 of your cycle and your period is on days 1-5 - you have sex on day 5 - that leaves enough time for the sperm to hang out and wait for the egg.

The egg is not leaving your body when you have your period, the lining of the uterus is. The egg only lives a couple of days inside you and then disintegrates.
