SUBJECT: What a rare and precious gift you have -- be proud it can be seen

I know that it is hard to hear advice like this, but -- if you have not already -- I am sure you will blossom into an exquisite beauty -- your heritage represents two of the most beautiful peoples of the earth, and the inner strength and rich history that belong to you by birthright is very evident in how courageous you are in writing your posting and exposing what is a truly outrageous injustice.

On a more practical note, as you have probably already guessed, two strong reasons provoke these people to poke fun at you.

Firstly, they have been taught to be afraid of difference, poor souls, and most probably are ill-equipped to deal effectively with individuality, change and differences in their environment -- it's not just with people, either, but probably is a core issue that will always haunt them -- fear of the unknown -- fear of what they do not understand. You are probably dealing with folks that have a low sense of their own identity and uniqueness, and an equally low self-esteem -- pat yourself on the back -- you are light years ahead of them! You can not only face difference, but you can talk about it openly and without fear -- how much better equipped are you to take on the real world.

Secondly, they need to "get a rise" out of you in order to negate their loss of control, which gives them some sense of power over their environment. It's not you they are striking at, it is their inability to process that which "does not compute."

Your feelings, however, of righteous indignation are absolutely justified and they probably are stinging right about now. If you can look at the problem from the perspective laid out above, hopefully it will help you understand their motivations and the result will feel something more like pity for their inability to cope.

You are the lucky one -- destined for great things -- travel and mastery of foreign cultures is your African birthright, and harmony and inner power your Japanese birthright -- together, my dear, you will be not only invincible, but also absolutely DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!

Focus on that!
