 | This probably is not recommendation that you will hear from everyone, but, as a young woman growing up with educated, but extremely negligent and ignorant parents who left me to "find out" what was what exclusively from books, I recommend you suggest that your friend contact the counselors at their local Planned Parenthood. Most folks don't think of them in this light, but, I know from first-hand experience that they are excellent resources for information, free materials -- even for parents of young women -- and professional advice from nurses and doctors. If religious concerns do not preclude your friend from taking advantage of this type of resource, then, it will probably turn out to provide them with a wealth of really sound advice for all concerned.
