I had a similar problem when my son was that age. He had gotten into the habit of waking for a drink each night. I also tried giving him water, that didn't work, he didn't like water. You might try giving him a glass of warm milk before bed, that worked for me. If you prefer sticking with water try giving him bottled water that is fruit flavored. My sons grandmother drinks fruit flavored water and she gave some to my son, who is now almost 4. It has no caffeine and is not carbonated. Good luck!
