What ever form of birth control you decide on just make sure that you do some research and fully know about your chosen method.
Most women I know who were unhappy with DepoProvera were unhappy because they were not fully informed about all of Depo's possible side effects. Spotting, loss of libido, weight gain, moodiness, ect. I was very happy with Depo and I regained my normal cycle after 6 months and conceived 14 months after stopping the shots. But, I knew that 18 months was to be expected and planned accordingly.
However I would not suggest Depo for a teenager. It is a great form of birth control for those who have trouble remembering to take the pill. But being told at 16 that it will take 18 months to conceive if you stop the shot means something different than it does at 25. Also when she is a little older she can better determine if she wants to try this form of birth control. Most people seem to either love it or hate it. And if she hates it, it is already in her system for 3 to 12 months.
But all forms of birth control have their advantages and disadvantages. Just be sure to fully research both.
