My son is the same way. I finally figured out when he was about 6 weeks old that he likes sleeping on his tummy. I was very hesitant about letting him do that (SIDS), but the first night I put him to bed on his tummy he slept through the night and has done so ever since. However, my son has also been able to hold his head up since he was 4 days old. One trick my doctor told me to try to ease my fears is to put him in his crib face down a few times. I tried that and he immediately moved his head to one side. That helped to ease my fears. My doctors advise was "however he sleeps best, then do it!" And I agree....having a baby that has slept through the night since he was 6 weeks old is wonderful!
