SUBJECT: People look at me differently...
Hi Everyone,
I am 31 years old and have a 4 year old son named Lucas; I am expecting twin boys in October, Roman and Riley.

I dress differently. My husband and I were both "punks" while we were growing up in the 80's. Because of carreer obligations, my husband can't wear what he used to wear. I, however, have chosen to dress the same way. I don't have purple hair, piercings and tattoos everywhere... but, everyone that walks by me gives me this look. One woman came up to me, when I was picking up my dry cleaning, and asked me why I would bring a child into my family (she could see that I was pregnant). She TOLD me that because of what I LOOK like, my child will be into drugs and will be a bad person.

I am an interior designer and all of my clients are at first shocked with the way that I dress, but they know what a wonderful designer I am and they begin to see me for me.

I don't get it. I am not a bad person. I do not do drugs. I take care of my family. If you saw a pregnant woman wearing t-shirts with punk/metal band names on them with big baggy pants and big black boots, what would your reaction be? Does it really bother people that much?

Just because I dress the way I do, it doesn't mean that I never went to college, don't have a job, does drugs, etc. My husband and I have raised a wonderful 4 year old son with no problems... we aren't bad parents.

What would your reaction be and why?

I appreciate anything you have to say. Thanks.
