SUBJECT: Boot Camp for Lazy, Spoiled, Bratty 14-year old boy???
Ok, my subject line is harsh, and I would never say that to his face. He is my boyfriend's son, and he is driving me crazy. We all get along fairly well; however, if I was in charge, we probably wouldn't because he wouldn't get away with any of it. He has quit everything he started. He doesn't pull his weight with housework. He gets mostly C's, some D's, and occasionally a B. He claims there is no way he can get more B's than C's. He argues about everything we ask/tell him to do. He even cries quite often when he doesn't get his way. He has an older sister who is 17. Thank God they get along fairly well. She is not a brat like him so I constantly wonder what happened to him???

Whenever my boyfriend (who has custody of him) grounds him, he leaves and goes over to his mother's house. His mother has been diagnosed with depression and mild personality disorder and refuses to stay on her medication so she is no help at all. He can only stand it there for about 48 hours.

I'm not use to this kind of behavior because the children in my life - my two nieces - behave relatively well and the older niece, who is in school, gets straight A's most of the time. I was the same way as a child.

He has the potential to be a great kid and a great adult, but he is going to turn out to be a total loser if something is not done. He isn't violent or doing drugs; he's just a big baby. His laziness has led to a weight problem. He's about 25 pounds overweight.

I want to send him to one of those Boot Camps. Does anyone know if those are any good?
