 | Hello, My daughter is now almost 10. She has been in a Accredited Montessori school since the age of 2. She potty trained early, so we were able to get her in a little earlier. I can't tell you how happy and greatful we are to have had this opportunity for our daughter. I also have a 19 year old daughter who was in Catholic school until she graduated high school. She did fine in school. No problems, but I wish I was able to have her in the Montessori program. My 10 year old is in the "5th grade". It is called upper elementary in Montessori. Her test scores indicate that she is accademically at about 8th grade to post high school level. She is a very, very happy child, and I have never had any problems with her not wanting to go to school. Her classes have always had a wide range of ages (2-5, 6-12). The philosophy is that the older children learn to teach the younger children, and the younger children learn by observation. The only problem that I have encountered with my daughter being in the Montessori program is that we are "stuck" Accademically she is very advanced, but her maturity level is what I would consider 8-10 years of age. She could not be put in another school with older children. A small problem that hopefully we won't have to deal with. Overall, I believe that a Montessori education is the best think you can give to your child. |
