I have a soon-to-be 3yr. old son but I haven't had this kind of problem. My husband and I started very early on with our son that tantrums and fits were not acceptable. If he needed to have one, go to his room. I agree with the advice the Bradyfamily gave you. There is also such a thing as being "too spoiled". Not to sound discouraging but your son's behaviors will only get worse when the second child comes along. I also recommend reading Dr. James Dobson's books. You need to stop ignoring his tantrums and nip it in the butt as soon as he starts up. Several suggestions: 1)Spank him--I didn't say beat him. Spank him once on the bare bottom or leg. Get his attention and tell him sternly that it's not allowed and you've had enough. 2) Send him to his room and use a baby gate to prevent him from getting out. If needed take out his toys during that time so he knows it isn't play time. 3) If he gets out of hand with his fits and screams, take a cup of water and splash it on his face. It will catch him off guard and stop him from throwing his fit. Then explain to him that these are some of the consequences he will face each time he behaves this way. After he settles down, then talk to him and see why he is acting that way. Like everyone else says, Be Consistent!
