IN REPLY TO: Nursing for a three year old.
AUTHOR: Mommymel
you have got to be kidding me...Why earth would you nurse a preschooler unless she was dying of cancer?
There are no longer many health benefits to either of you to continue. In fact I would say that at this stage of the game you might as well just give her a bottle again, unless she is nursing that too.
i think you have been talking to la leche league or wic too often and allowed them to pressure you into this bizarre ritual.
No offence but it is really not normal, especially if the child is emotionally and mentally sound. if you continue this you are teching her to be dependent on you in every way and that is definately not healthy.
I nursed my son for 5 1/2 months and I do not feel the least bit guilty for that. But once the child develops an independent personality it is time to quit and besides do you really want to be lactating if you do meet the baby's daddy of your dreams?
Dont let anyone pressure you but your own conscious, do you really need a full grown kid suckling the nutrition from your body????
Even animals push there children away at some point. Both you and your child need to learn some limits.....
