Hi Sarah! boy do I know what you are talking about! My husband told me I baby my son too much and he just needs more disapline. I get him to talk to me alot more though and i feel I understand more of what he is going through because of this. When my husband yells at him for not listening or he gets disaplined for being bad, my son gets mean and upset and just wants to hurt someone back at times. I feel disiplining him the way my husband feels is correct makes my son just want to shut down and he doesn't want to talk, then he is holding things in and this just makes things worse. We had similar school problems like U this year and so I had a school meeting and didn't get much help,so my dr. recommended a phyciatric evaluation at a hospital for ADD and ADHD. They can also do this through most schools but it is along process unfortunately like everything else! So anyhow my son was diagnosed with ADHD and it has been hard for me, because they do label kids so often. But I do know my son has had alot of behavioral probs at school and talking to him never seemed to work. I did make sure my husband went with me to this testing we had done and talked to the physicologist. She explained to him that these kids cannot always control or help what they do. even if they mean well and want to. Most of these kids do things without thinking and are very impulsive. my son does lots of things before thinking, which gets him into lots of trouble with strict teachers like he had last year. I havent decided yet on whether to use medicine yet or not. My son also does quite well acidemically, but had some trouble finishing long writing projects and keeping on task. He also gets easily distracted which of course gets him in lots of trouble! So anyhow let me know if you find out any helpful info. on helping with behavioral probs. I hope I gave you a little info. and if I find more i'll let ya know! Good Luck! I know it is a long and important process! Jen
