Diyan,

I have an aunt who has 3 kids but the 2 younger of them are from her husband. Well I have noticed that how ever the husband treats her the kids do the same. Therefore I am trying to say that one of the reasons the children would not help around the house is because your husband does not help around the house also. Another reason could be that you started them on chores too late. My daughter is 8 and she has been hounding me to wash dishes from the time she was 5. I then allowed he to was a cup her and a cup there. When my children were toddlers and they were finised playing I would help them clean up there room...the point is that we were doing it together. I was not just cleaning up after them. Now at 6 & 8 my son take out the trash in his room and the bathroom every sat. morning, they clean there room together, my daughter brings there laudry down for me to wash, my daughter would wash her and her brothers breakfast and lunch dishes on the wknd and my son will dry.

So maybe you should have a talk with your husband about helping around the house, and then the whole family should sit down and discuss the same topic. Be patient though it may not happen right away.
