8 Year Old Boy - Potty Training??

My son is 8 years old and he keeps pooping his pants. I'm so frustrated with this problem and I don't have any idea on how to help fix this?
My son will be going to 3rd grade and this has been a major frustration and I am at my end with the situation.
He doesn't want to interrupt "FUN TIME" to go to the bathroom.
He say's he holds it to long and when we talk about it - he doesn't seem to car beacuse this continues to happen..
I remind him to use the bathroom & he says "OH yeah , like he forgot ??"
I guess I'm confused??
Any suggestions????
