SUBJECT: HELP - Is this inappropriate?
My stepdaughter is almost 10. My husband and I are concerned that some of the things she does while with her mother are inappropriate. She and her mother live in a 3 bedroom house, yet the mother sleeps in her daughter's bed every night and doesn't have her own bed set up in her own room. The mother and daughter sometimes take bubble baths together. When my stepdaughter has sleepovers at her mothers house, the two children take a bath together and sleep together in my stepdaughter's bed. I have no idea where the mother sleeps during this time. The mother claims this is perfectly normal and healthy, but it seems bizarre to me and my husband. When she stays at our house, she expects to act the same way. When her friends sleep over, we are not comfortable with the children bathing together. My stepdaughter has a lot of trouble sleeping by herself when she is at our house and wants to climb into our bed early every morning. Is this inappropriate behavior? It doesn't seem developmentally healthy or normal for a child of this age. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.
