Dave and Alisha,
My daugther is on 22 months but we are having some of the same problems. (and there is a new baby due in two months) About 2 weeks ago we hired a nanny (my daugther had always been in group daycare) Around the time of this change the sleep problems started.(she had always been a great slepper 8-6:30) First she started to wake up in the nite and refuse to go back to sleep, we made the mistake of picking her up taking her down for some water and her dad would occasionally read her a book, and for awile this was fine and she would go back to sleep in her crib.

But then she started screaming when we put her down (for bed and waking in nite) and 2 nites ago figured out how to climb out of her crib. So now she has a mattress (for a twin bed that had been ordered but not here yet)on the floor in her new "big girl room". Last nite was the first nite on the new mattress in the new room, and she did not want to go to sleep. She would cry and get up and open the door in about 2 seconds. I would calming say "It is nite-nite time go to sleep" I did this about 50 times and it was not until my husband and I were putting a gate at the door(where she could see us)that she fell asleep and slept until 5:15 (but then would not go back to sleep).

I am dreading these nites, I have to work tonite and my husband has to deal with it alone, (we have a game plan but I am still afraid we won't be consistent).

I am curious what worked for you and also would greatly appreciate any other advice from readers out there.

Char and Rolf
