SUBJECT: anyone have a child with develomental and speech dalays?

i have a 3 year old with developmental and speech delays. he is in preschool now i still dont understand alot of what he says, how much longer untill i can understand him? i am so frustrated and sad. he has a 2 year old brother is he going to have the same problam because of imatateing his brother? if anyone has had the same problam please give me some advice, thank you.

Response from rossa:
I have twin boys with speech delays. I don't understand much of what they say, either, but i have noticed that my worry interferes with my comprehension of what they do say. for example, they have a habit of repeating words now that they hear, but until I heard the words myself, i could not understand many of them. They are saying words, but not well enought for everyone to understand. I read that television hinders speech development, and I use a lot of tv, since it really held their attention. But now, I am considering staying at home with them and getting them into a routine that will help me to understand them better. I guess it is going to be more work and less fun watching our children grow and develop. My prayers are with you.
