I know this advice may not sound that appealing to many parents but I found that this helped my son feel more comfortable pooping in the toilet. Like many mothers, when I use the bathroom privacy is not usually allowed. So when I was in the bathroom and my son asked what I was doing, I would tell him and then show him that I went pee and poop in the potty. Then my son would proceed to tell me what a good job I did. I would thank him and just re-emphasize the fact that I was a big girl I used the potty. My son is still potty-training but is more comfortable pooping now. I sometimes think that children are more open and willing to do something if they know their parents do the same thing. It also takes the fear out of the unknown. And this is also the age children like to imitate their parents.
